The roofing material 1 has a main body section 2 in which a thin rear-side superposing section 3 is formed on one side and a thin surface- side superposing section 4 on the other side. A throating groove 7 is formed to the surface of the superposing section 3, the main body section 2 has a metallic surface material 5 and a backup material 6, and at least the surface side of the backup material 6 is covered with the metallic surface material 5. When the superposing section 4 is superposed to the superposing section 3 of another roofing material 1, a waterproof rib 8 fitted into the throating groove 7 of another roofing material is projected and formed.
