To provide an easy-to-manufacture rotary electric machine capable of reducing thermal deformation, and to provide a method for manufacturing the rotor of a rotary electric machine.
The rotary electric machine comprises a rotor 10 having a rotor core 12 provided with a plurality of permanent magnets 14, and a stator 30 arranged at the outer circumference of the rotor 10. The rotor core 12 has a magnet insertion hole 16 comprising a region 16A for inserting the permanent magnet 14 and an air gap region 16B communicating with the insertion region 16A in the circumferential direction, and a bridge part 12A of nonmagnetic region formed between the air gap region 16B and the outer circumferential surface of the rotor core 12 on the radially outside of the air gap region.
