To materialize a rotation-linear motion converting mechanism with excellent usability which can produce great thrust while highly reliable, highly efficient and compact.
A rotation-linear motion converting mechanism which includes a rod 1 containing a screw part in the outer peripheral surface, a holder member 3 provided so as to be relatively rotatable and relatively axially movable with respect to the rod, a roller 21 rotatably supported by a holder member, provided with an annular groove meshing with the screw part and arranged torsionally at a shaft angle larger than a lead angle of the screw part with respect to the center shaft of the rod shaft and bases 6, 7 for supporting the holder member, is equipped with a motor 5 for rotating the holder member with respect to the base and a rod linear motion means which stops the rotation of the rod with respect to the base to allow axial movement. The rod linear motion means consists of a groove which is disposed on the outer peripheral side from a roller meshing part in a rod screw part and provided in a rod axial direction and of a protrusion which forms a sliding pair by being inserted into the groove and which is fixed and arranged in the base.
