PURPOSE: To reduce the manhours in machining and improve cooling by installing a ventilation member, which has an axial ventilation path and a radial ventilation path, below a coil slot.
CONSTITUTION: Field windings 2 are arranged within a coil slot (CS) provided at a rotor. To cool the heat generated from the field winding 2, a fan is provided at the end of the rotor, and the barrel of the rotor is supplied with a cooling medium, and a ventilation member 3 is provided inside the CS1. The ventilation member 3 leads to the axial ventilation path 4, and also it is equipped with a radial ventilation path 5 made in the radial direction of the field winding 2 so that the cooling medium can circulate. In short, the field winding being a heat source is cooled by contacting directly with the cooling medium. Moreover, unlike a conventional direct cooling method, there is no necessity to provide a sub slot under CS1, the machining of the rotor lessens. Furthermore, the insulating of the field winding 2 can be kept without affixing an insulator to the ventilation member 3 itself by using an insulating material as the ventilation member 3.
