Abstract:

To prevent a knockdown accident of the body by a method wherein an inclination detecting means is provided to detect the inclination of the body in an electric vehicle comprising rear drive wheels and front steering wheels and when the detection of the inclination exceeding a specified angle of inclination lasts for a specified time length, a control is performed to stop the drive wheels.

As for an electric vehicle such as electric wheel chair running at a relatively low speed, a motor 26 is stopped completely in the controlling of the operation and the stoppage while an electromagnetic brake 32 performs a braking and a backward relay is turned off to shift the position to the braking of the motor. Then, a releasing timer of the electromagnetic brake 32 is turned to zero. When a backward running occurs by a dead load during the stoppage of running on a hill and the manual braking performed by the electromagnetic brake 32 makes the steering wheels float, an inclination sensor 17 is turned on. In such a case, the electromagnetic brake 32 is released to confine the braking to a motor braking weaker in braking force. The releasing timer awaits the passage of one sec. for instance and then, starts a breaking with the electromagnetic brake.
