PURPOSE: To make it possible to apply load equivalent to real running, by constituting the titled apparatus so as to apply a value, which is obtained by subtracting the output of a dynamo loss correcting device and the output of a tire loss correcting device from the output of a running resistance generator, to the power absorbing part of a dynamo.

CONSTITUTION: In such a state that a bicycle to be tested is not placed on a dynamo roller 1, switches 9a, 9b are changed over to an A-side and detection torque at each speed of a speed setting device 10 is set to a dynamo loss correcting device 7. In the next step, the set value of the dynamo loss correcting device 7 is subtracted from the detection torque at each speed in such a state that the bicycle to be tested is placed on the dynamo roller 1 and the obtained value is inputted to a tire loss correcting device 8. After these settings are completed, running characteristics of a real road are set to a running resistance setting device 6 and, subsequently, when the switches 9a, 9b are changed over to a B-side, the power absorbing amount of a power absorbing part 2 is controlled to the value obtained by subtracting dynamo loss (a) and tire loss from a running resistance amount. By this method, load equivalent to real running can be applied.
