Abstract:

To prevent collision of a final reduction gear to a road surface, when a vehicle descends a steep hill and comes to a flat road surface.

This saddle riding type vehicle 1 comprises a car body frame 3 for loading an engine 2, a pair of suspending mechanisms 20 that are disposed on both sides of the back side of the car body frame 3 and vertically oscillate wheels, and a power transmitting mechanism 40 for transmitting an output of the engine 2 to the wheels 4. The suspending mechanisms 20 have a suspension arm 21 that is disposed oscillatably in the car body frame 3 and pivots the wheels 4 turnably, and a rear cushion 22 for supporting the suspension arm 21 on the car body frame 3. The power transmitting mechanism 40 has the final reduction gear 42 having an output shaft 41 for decelerating power from the engine 2 and transmitting it to the right and left wheels 4. In the saddle riding type vehicle 1, the final reduction gear 42 is arranged on the car body frame 3 so that the center position P1 of the output shaft 41 lies on the front side of the vehicle than the rear cushion 22.
