Title:
SAFE CHASSIS FOR AUTOMOBILE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000038171
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To disperse most of collision energy by arranging a shock plate connected to the front edge of an occupant cell and longitudinal chassis rails on the front side of two front wheels fitted to second chassis rails below the front region of the occupant cell via the longitudinal chassis rails.

Front wheels 16 arranged below the front region of an occupant cell 12 having a floor 14 extending obliquely upward in the range of about 25-45° are fixed to second chassis rails 18 via chassis rails 20 extending in the longitudinal direction. A shock plate 22 arranged in the front of the front wheels 16, extended crossingly beyond the width of a vehicle and having the prescribed breaking point 26 is fixed to one-end sections of the chassis rails 2O, and it is extended and fixed to the area of a front edge 24. When the shock at the time of a collision breaks the breaking point 26 of the shock plate 22, the second chassis rails 18 are removed, the shock plate 22 is moved to the rear side below the floor 14 together with the front wheels 16, and a block section 32 is broken.
