Abstract:
A safety system for use in conjunction with a primary source of electricity 19, 21, 22, such as the normal supply to a building, comprises an emergency light system 44 which causes energization of an emergency light 12 from a secondary source 46 when the primary source fails, and a detector 47, e.g. a fire, smoke or burglar detector, which upon sensing an abnormal condition causes energization of a an alarm device 29 and the emergency light 12 from the source 46. A low voltage dropout system 50 may be provided to cause de-energization of emergency light 12 and energization of alarm device 49 intermittently of the battery 46 voltage falls below a predetermined level. The system may be included in a housing which may be incorporated in a ceiling light fixture.
