PURPOSE: To produce a screen with high luminance and a wide vidual field by making the cross sectional shape of optical diffusion grooves on the surface of a metallic reflecting plate screen an arc having about 1/4 periphery.
CONSTITUTION: Arc-shaped optical diffusion grooves 3 to which alumite treatment is applied are formed on the surface 2 of a metallic screen consisting of an aluminium thin plate 1. If the cross sectional shape of the groove 3 is an arc of radius (r) and the length of the arc is practically included in the range of about 2/3πrW2/5πr, parallel incident light rays are reflected in the direction of about 180 G'WA' without the generation of multiple-reflection inside the grooves and a screen with high luminance and a wide vidual field is obtained.
