There is provided a seal of osmotic or carved stamp in which the characters are integrated with the background such as symbols, figures or patterns by overlapping them. The background is formed from dots or parallel lines (vertical, horizontal and angled lines) which satisfy such conditions that 25-250 pieces or 25-250 lines exist in the width of 2.54 cm, and the density when cumulating in 2.54 cm square is in the range of 5-50%, and thus is that of intermediate color fainter than a character's color tone. Further, the seal is characterized in that the character is an autographic signature, and the background is one of company mark, school emblem, emblem of prefectural and city governments, family emblem and scenery.
