To provide a sealant for a liquid crystal display element, which is in particular most suitable for manufacture of the liquid crystal display element with a dropping method, since it has an excellent drawing property, and at the same time, its component does not dissolve into the liquid crystal and does not pollute the liquid crystal, and it scarcely produces color irregularity in the liquid crystal display, a vertically conducting material, and the liquid crystal display element, in the manufacture of the liquid crystal display element.
The sealant for the liquid crystal display element includes a compound represented by general formula (1), a resin having two or more epoxy groups and/or unsaturated double bonds, and a thermosetting agent. Here, in general formula (1), R represents a hydrogen group, a hydroxy group, a cyano group, a carboxylic acid, an aromatic ring optionally having a substituent group, a straight-chain, branched, or cyclic alkyl group, an acyl group or an ester group.
