To provide a seat direction changing mechanism for mechanically simplifying the structure thereof while performing smooth direction change of a seat.

A direction changing mechanism M comprises a slide mechanism 40, a turning mechanism 50 and an interlocking mechanism 60, and performs the direction changing operation comprising a fixed position rotating operation to perform only the rotating operation, and a composite operation to perform the turning operation and the slide operation in a composite manner to a seat 30. The interlocking mechanism 60 comprises a guide pin 65 and a guide groove 62, and prohibits any other operations (malfunctions) then the direction changing operation by fitting the pin to the groove. Since these malfunctions are also regulated by the interlocking mechanism 60, the device is mechanically simplified.
