Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for selecting a die for sheathing optical fiber with which the inside configuration of the die hole is measured and an accurately manufactured die is selected.
SOLUTION: A die 51 for sheathing optical fiber is attached to a stage 3 and adjusted so that the central axis of the parallel land part of a die hole 51a is parallel with Z axis which is substantially parallel with an optical axis 5. The die 51 is rotated around Z axis from a reference position, and the configuration of the cross section at a specific depth in the die hole 51a is measured at the position corresponding to each rotating angle. The optical support part is moved in the direction of depth of the die hole 51a, and the configuration of the cross section in the die hole 51a is measured on the same way as the above. Thus, the configuration of the cross section at any depth, such as the inside diameter and the position of the central point, is measured.
