PURPOSE: To relax significantly the restriction on the number of pieces of pads for signal use as well as to offer the selective circuit, which contributes to a reduction in a chip area, of a semiconductor device by a method wherein the number of pieces of pads for selection exclusive use is reduced.

CONSTITUTION: A selective circuit is provided with a resistor and a transistor; which are connected in series and provided between pads for signal use on chips to be selected, to which a prescribed selective voltage is applied at the time of selection to detect a selective current, and a power supply; and a pad for selection exclusive use, to which a control signal to control the above transistor is applied, and a plurality of kinds of the chips are selected from a wafer on the basis of the above selective current.
