PURPOSE: A semiconductive composition that is composed of a graft copolymer from acrylic ester and vinyl chloride and of electrically conductive carbon black, thus showing good peeling property, high pellet processability, high scortch resistance and being readily extrudable.
CONSTITUTION: An electrically conductive carbon black such as furnace black or acetylene black is added to a graft copolymer from an acrylic ester and vinyl chloride. The addition of 1W400pts.wt. of an olefin homopolymer or a copolymer, preferably an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer containing more than 25wt% vinyl acetate, to 100pts. of the graft copolymer containing more than 25wt% vinyl acetate, to 100pts. of the graft copolymer markedly improves extrudability.
USE: It is suitably used as an outer semiconductive layer in power cables insulated with crosslinked polyethylene.
