To improve the general versatility of HPLC by improving the resisting performance of a separating agent for optical isomers against solvents formed by carrying a polysaccharide derivative on a carrier while securing the superior optical resolution of the polysaccharide derivative, to improve the durability of a column filled with such a separating agent, and to provide a technique capable of advantageously manufacturing the separating agent for optical isomers with such superior characteristics.
When manufacturing the target separating agent for optical isomers by carrying a polysaccharide derivative with cellulose or the like as a base on a porous carrier such as silica gel, a polymeric unsaturated group is introduced to the polysaccharide derivative to be a polymeric polysaccharide derivative, radical co polymerization is performed in the state that other polymeric unsaturated monomers different from the polymeric polysaccharide derivative are coexistent with the polymeric polysaccharide derivative and the carrier to fix the polymeric polysaccharide derivative on the carrier.
