PURPOSE: To improve resistance to thermal load, thermal fatigue and thermal shock, microscopic reinforceability and frictional characteristics by using a heat resistant resin compsn. contg. a specified amt. of specified carbon whiskers.

CONSTITUTION: A heat resistant resin compsn. contg. carbon whiskers of ≤1μm average diameter by 5-50wt.% of the amt. of the compsn. is used. The heat resistant resin is a resin usable at the surface temp. (usually ≥150°C) of the fixing roller of a copying machine and is preferably arom. polyether ketone resin or polycyanoaryl ether resin. The carbon whiskers are whiskers having high purity of carbon produced from hydrocarbon by a vapor growth method. Required resistance to thermal load, thermal fatigue and thermal shock, required microscopic reinforceability, frictional characteristics and tip shape can be imparted to the heat resistant resin.
