Abstract:

PURPOSE: To execute sepn. of isotope capable of easily increasing a treatment capacity with a high sepn. degree per stage by discriminating ionized materials to be separated with the arbitrary cirtical mass as a boundary by the alternating electric fields defined by specific equation and transporting these materials.
CONSTITUTION: The outer periphery of a vacuum vessel 21 is provided with coil groups 24. This vacuum vessel 21 internally is provided with an electrode 25 having an hourglass-shaped quadratic surface coaxial with the central axis of the vessel 21 and a pair of upper and lower electrodes 26a, 26b having a mushroom head shape. A coaxial plasma former 29 is inserted in the central part of the vessel 21. The inside of the vacuum vessel 21 is first evacuated to a high vacuum by a vacuum evacuation device 23 and the coil groups 24 are energized to form prescribed magnetic fields in an axial direction. Prescribed voltage is impressed on the electrode 25 and the electrodes 26a, 26b. The alternating magnetic fields of the equation having small pulsation are then formed in an isotope separating space 31. The plasma former 29 is thereafter operated. The ions lighter than the arbitrary mass Mc as a boundary are discriminated, transported and separated in the axial direction and the ions heavier than the same in the radial direction in such a manner.
