To provide a display screen which can be harmonious with an embroidery sewing machine main body by providing a display means, by which a color display is possible, making background color data, which are suitable for the color of the main body, selectable by a selecting means, and at the same time, changing the background color in a display by using the selected background color data and displaying the display.

On the surface of the body of an embroidery sewing machine, an LCD panel 2 is provided, and when a power source is turned on, background color data D of a specified color, which are set in advance, are read, and then, a required display image is drawn and displayed on the LCD 2. Then, the process is transferred to the normal motion of the embroidery sewing machine. In this case, in a selective screen 30 of the LCD panel 2, a selected pattern display region 31 for a sewing pattern which is selected at the present time, a plurality of pattern selecting keys 32 which are operated when a pattern is selected, and a background color changing key 33 to change a background color, or the like are provided. When the background color changing key 33 is operated, a background color changing screen is displayed, and a background is drawn by using background color data which is selected on the background color changing screen.
