PURPOSE: To obtain a shading film material hard to deteriorate in its light adjusting function and easily taking an arbitrary flexible shape by laminating a polymeric material on a transparent film material along with water to form a shading layer and incorporating a heater and/or a cooler in at least one transparent film support.

CONSTITUTION: A polymeric material showing sol/gel phase transition within the temp. range of 0-80°C and different in light transmissivity between sol and gel states is laminated on transparent film supports 11, 12 each of which is composed of at least one org. material along with water to form a shading layer 13 which is, in turn, heated or cooled by a heater 14 or a cooler. By this method, a shading film material wherein transition temp. becomes fast, a transparent or opaque state can be obtained within a short time and transparency and opacity can be arbitrarily changed over is obtained.
