PURPOSE: To form the unit in the caption in compact size, by arranging a plurality of trays inclining at an assigned angle and a sheet transport unit freely movable along a running track above said trays, in case of a select/transport unit applicable to cumulative phosphor sheet etc.
CONSTITUTION: Cumulative phosphor sheets 22 carried on belt conveyors 24, 26 are read in information of their sizes by a reading unit 10, carried on conveyors 30, 34, 48, 50 successively, and made free from the remaining radiant ray image information by means of an eliminating unit 42 and are held between belt conveyors 54, 56 of a transport unit 52. They are transferred, under this state, to a plurality of trays 58 inclined at an assigned angle with their openings facing upward and positioned and stopped above respective assigned trays. Then, belt conveyors 54, 56 are put in turning drive and sheets 22 held by them are dropped and stored in trays 58. Thus, the overall unit can be formed in a compact size and subjected to secure select/transport.
