PURPOSE: To obtain a sheetlike oil-adsorbing material having sufficient strength after the absorption of oil and easy to recover by forming the sheetlike oil- adsorbing material by bonding and fixing a kapok fiber and a cotton fiber with a hot melt fiber.
CONSTITUTION: A sheetlike oil-adsorbing material is prepared by a method wherein a kapok fiber, a cotton fiber and a hot-melt fiber are mixed to be molded into a sheetlike state and the molded sheet is heated to be cooled or a method wherein the kapok fiber, the cotton fiber and the hot-melt fiber are mixed to be molded into a sheetlike state and the hot-melt fiber is bonded to the surface and rear of the sheetlike molded body, and after the whole is heated to be cooled, the periphery or diagonal line of the formed sheet is sewn by cotton yarn, if necessary. The cotton fiber pref. has length of about 20-40mm and the hot-melt fiber is pref. composed of polypropylene or polyester. From an aspect easy to use such as oil absorbability, processability, strength and stiffness, the mixing ratio of the respective fibers is pref. set so that the kapok fiber is 20-70wt.%, the cotton fiber is 20-70wt.% and the hot-melt fiber is 10-40wt.%.
