Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a resin coated sand compsn. which suppresses the amt. of a bromine compd. to be added to the extent of obviating the occurrence of corrosion and has a sufficient collapsing property.
CONSTITUTION: This shell molding method resin coated sand compsn. for light alloy casting is provided by mixing a phenolic resin, a bromine-contg. compd. and a non-halogen zinc compd. with molding sand. The amt. of the bromine in the bromine-contg. compd. is a ratio of 0.001 to 0.1 pt. wt. per 100 pts. wt. molding sand and the amt. of the zinc in the non-halogen based zinc compd. is preferably a ratio of 0.001 to 1.0 pt.wt. per 100 pts.wt. molding sand.
