Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shrimp processor and a processing method that can readily open the tails of individual living shrimps and cam maintain the shrimps as their tails are opened. SOLUTION: This shrimp tail processor is equipped with the conveyer 2 and the tail expander having a pushing member 31 in the hot water tank 30a. The conveyer 2 is equipped with the chain conveyer 4 and a plurality of the holders 5 which are rotatably fitted to the chains 41 of the chain conveyer 4 and the pusher 7 for pushing a shrimp held by the holder 5 to the pushing member 31 in the hot water tank 30. The pushing member 31 in the tail- expanding part 3 has a sliding face 32 with the uneven surface on its upper side. The holder 5 holding a shrimp at its trunk moves, as the chain is driven, and during the movement, the holder 5 is rotated and inclined by the pushing means whereby the tail of the held shrimp is allowed to slide on the sliding face 32 in the pushing member 31 in the hot water 30a and opened in a fan.
