PURPOSE: To provide a processing method excellent in processing stability as well as super-contrasty by processing silver halide photographic material, containing a specific hydrazine derivative, with a specific developer.

CONSTITUTION: Silver halide photographic material contains a hydrazine derivative, expressed by a formula I, in a silver halide emulsion layer or another hydrophilic colloid layer. After exposure, this silver halide photographic material is processed with a developer containing 0.2-0.75mol/l of a dihydroxybenzene group developing agent, 0. 001-0. 006mol/l of a 1-phenyl-3-pyrazolidon group or p-aminophenol group auxiliary developing agent, 0.3-l.2mol/l of free ion sulfite and a compound expressed by a formula II, with a concentration ratio between the compound expressed by the formula II and the dihydroxybenzene group developing agent being 0.03-0.12 and pH being 11.0-12.5. In the formula I, R2, R2. represent aryl groups, hetero ring groups, and R represents an organic bound group. In the formula II, R1, R2 represent hydroxy groups, amino groups, or the like, and X represents an atomic group required to form a 5-8 member ring jointly with a carbon atom.
