Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of photograhic fogs by containing specific 1-phenyl-mercaptotetrazole in a silver halide photographic emulsion.

CONSTITUTION: The 1-phenyl-mercatotetrazole compd. expressed by the formula (in the formula M is a hydrogen atom, an alkali metal atom or a quaternary ammonium group, R1 or R2 is a hydrogen atom, an aliphat. group having no substituents or having substituents, or an arom. group having no substituents or having substituents, both of which may the same or different or may form a ring by binding to each other) is added in a 10-8W10-2mol range based on 1mol silver halide. Said compd. may be added in a colloidal silver layer. Initial desilvering property is maintained and photographic fogs are prevented well by the substitution of the substituents on the phenyl group.
