The method for producing a single crystal graphene sheet 240 includes a process for forming a single crystal graphitizing metal catalyst 210 into a sheet-like form; a process for bringing a carbonaceous material 220 into contact with the graphitizing metal catalyst 210 by applying the carbonaceous material 220 on the surface of the single crystal graphitizing metal catalyst 210 or bringing the graphitizing metal catalyst 210 into contact with a carbon-containing gas; and a process for heat-treating the graphitizing metal catalyst 210 brought into contact with the carbonaceous material 220 in an inert atmosphere or a reducing atmosphere. By the method, the single crystal graphene sheet 240 comprising a polycyclic aromatic molecule wherein a plurality of carbon atoms are covalently bound to each other, wherein the number of layers is 1-300, and the ratio (D/G) of the peak intensity of the D band to the peak intensity of the G band is 0.2, when a Raman spectrum is measured, is obtained.
