Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a die which is not cracked in hot or warm forging and excellent in resistance to wear and surface roughening by using a WC-base sintered hard alloy having specified contents of Co and Cr.

CONSTITUTION: The binder phase forming compact is a hard metal contg. 5-25wt.% Co, 0.3-3.0% Cr and the balance WC as the dispersed phase forming component with inevitable impurities, and a sintered hard alloy for hot or warm forging is formed from the hard metal. The WC as the dispersed phase forming component is preferably dispersed as the fine particles having 1-5μm average diameter. Consequently, the service life of the die is prolonged when used in hot or warm forging.
