PURPOSE: To simplify a press mechanism, to improve maintainability, and to obtain an inexpensive sizing press by installing a transfer device carrying a stock in a longitudinal direction between the inlet and outlet side housing posts of the sizing press.

CONSTITUTION: In a sizing press, a long-sized rectangular section sheet stock has its width reduced by applying compressive force in the width direction with the stock transferred in the longitudinal direction. A transfer device consisting of an upper pressing roller 17 and a slab supporting roller (lower roller) 21 is installed between housing posts positioned in the inlet and outlet sides of the sizing press. The stock is transferred in the longitudinal direction by the transfer device. Respective rollers 17, 21 are activated by cylinders 18, 20, 23 to pinch and transfer the stock. Thus, the inexpensive sizing press is offered by simplifying the press mechanism and improving the maintainability.
