To provide a skin care preparation synergistically enhancing antioxidant effects, sufficiently exhibiting effects of an antioxidant ingredient by formulating a small amount thereof and having excellent preventing actions on skin roughening and aging and preventing or ameliorating the formation of peroxide lipids or skin inflammations or skin roughening caused by the formation of active oxygen in the skin.

The skin care preparation is obtained by formulating an extract from a plant of the genus Clintonia of the family Uvulariaceae and the antioxidant ingredient such as carotenoids, flavonoids, tannins and gallic acid and salts and esters thereof, tocopherol and derivatives thereof, superoxide dismutase, thioredoxin, thioredoxin reductase, butylhydroxytoluene or butylhydroxyanisole in combination therein. One or more species selected from Clintonia borealis and Clintonia udensis are preferred as the plant of the genus Clintonia.
