Abstract:

To provide a sliding member composed of -sialon sintered compact which is inexpensive and yet stably guarantees a sufficient durability, its manufacturing process and a sliding device equipped with the sliding member.

An outer ring 11 and an inner ring 12, which are sliding members constituting a spherical bearing 1 a sliding device, are expressed by a composition formula: Si6-zAlzOzN8-z and composed of a sintered compact which consists of a -sialon satisfying 0.1z3.5 as the major component and remaining impurities. An outer ring dense layer 11B and an inner ring dense layer 12B which are the layers denser than the inner parts 11C and 12C are formed on the region including an outer ring sliding surface 11A and an inner ring sliding surface 12A which are the surfaces contacting with the inner ring 12 and the outer ring 11.
