This sliding mechanism comprises a rack 12 installed in the advancing direction of a slide part 2B, a drive pinion gear 11 installed to drive the slide part 2B in the advancing direction by engaging it with the rack 12 in the state of being fitted to the slide part 2B, a rattling eliminating pinion gear 15 installed to drive the slide part 2B in the advancing direction in association with the drive pinion gear 11 by engaging it with the rack 12 in the same manner as in the drive pinion gear 11, and a rattling eliminating spring 20 for securing, without clearance, the engaged state of the drive pinion gear 11 and the rattling eliminating pinion gear 15 in the advancing direction with the rack 12 by acting a force for reducing a distance between the drive pinion gear 11 and the rattling eliminating pinion gear 15.
