To solve the problem that when inferring a smear component that is generated in an image signal read from a solid-state imaging element, if a saturated photodetecting element is included, it is difficult to accurately infer the smear component.
A smear inference unit 30 infers a smear component using charge accumulated in one or more photodetecting elements for generating charge that becomes a source of the smear component and a predetermined coefficient in order to remove the smear component mixed in a step of sequentially transferring each of charge amounts accumulated in a photodetecting element line within an identical transfer path. A saturation judgement unit 10 judges whether one or more photodetecting elements each of which generates charge that becomes the source of the smear component, are saturated or not. If there are one or more saturated photo-detection elements as a judged result by the saturation judgement unit 10, the smear inference unit 30 infers a charge amount accumulated in at least one of the saturated photodetecting elements based on a charge amount accumulated in one or more non-saturated photodetecting elements.
