PURPOSE: To eliminate or reduce smear component occurring by incident light between picture elements in the vertical direction in an image pickup part having a shunt wiring structure, by making a second light shielding layer for a reference picture element part serve as the light shielding between elements in the vertical direction of an effective picture element part.
CONSTITUTION: In a solid-state image pickup equipment provided with an effective picture element part 1A for obtaining image data and a reference picture element part 1B for obtaining the reference level of the image data, the light shielding structure of an image pickup part 1 is a two-layered structure constituted of a first light shielding layer 4 and a second light shielding layer 5. The first layer 4 constitutes a shunt wiring which stretches in the vertical direction on a plurality of vertical transferring parts, shields the light between picture elements in the horizontal direction in the effective element part 1A, and supplies transferring clock pulses to each transferring electrode in the plurality of vertical transferring parts. The second layer 5 covers the whole surface of the reference picture element part 1B, and shields the light between picture elements in the vertical direction in the effective picture element part 1A. For example, the above first and second light shielding layers 4, 5 are a first and a second aluminum layer.
