PURPOSE: To sore a set of random codes in fixed order by providing several code converter circuits to the input and output sides of a sorting network and then by selecting fixed code converter circuits corresponding to an input code system.

CONSTITUTION: On the same integrated-circuit substrate, sorting network 3 which rearranges inputs of characteristics code system in fixed order, and code converter circuits 21 to 24, and 61 to 64 connected to the input and output terminals of it are integrated. Then, those groups of code converter circuits are controlled externally by control circuits 8 and 9 to constitute a general-purpose sorting function integrated circuit. Inputs 11 to 14 of different code systems are converted by code converter circuits 21 to 24 into specific codes, which are sorted by sorting circuit 3 and then converted into adequate code systems by code converter circuits 61 to 64 before being outputted.
