To suppress deterioration in sense of localization when listening at a position off the center in a virtual surround sound mode.
Signals of rear-side LS and RS channels of a multichannel signal output from a decoder 11 are localized by rear localization adding units 31 and 32 to virtual speakers 21 and 22 respectively, and output to a crosstalk canceling unit 33. The crosstalk canceling unit 33 performs crosstalk cancellation processing so that signals reproduced by a front left speaker 19 and a front right speaker 20 reach only the speaker-side ears of a listener 100 and in this case, transfer functions obtained by weighting and adding heat transfer functions of angles of incidence from the respective speakers and head transfer functions of angles larger and smaller than the angles is used as transfer functions of crosstalk paths from the respective speakers to the opposite-side ears of the listener.
