PURPOSE: To obtain a reliable AE data not affected by an electrical noise by performing the measurement by shifting the center position of the distance between respective sound converters, which contain the sound propagation part, from the acoustic emission range.
CONSTITUTION: An example wherein the wave directing rods 2 the lengths of which are different from each other are used is shown. The lengths of the rods are made different from each other so that the center position of the measurement interval by the detector is shifted from the bead weld. By this, the position at which an electrical noise is produced can be shifted from the bead weld, a defect regarded in a traditional method as if an electrical noise was produced from the bead weld can be eliminated.
