To provide a sound quality controlling device which is capable of performing a sound quality setting which is capable of reducing a noise output exactly in silence and quickly recovering a sounding state even when sound signals whose input level varies rapidly are inputted.
The sound quality control device is equipped with a sounding state/silent state judging means 12 for judging whether the inputted sound signals are in a sounding state or a silent state and a sound quantity setting means 14 for setting the sound signals at different sound qualities depending on whether the sound signals are in a sounding state or a silent state on the basis of the judgement result given by the sounding state/silent state judging means 12, and the sound signals are adjusted in sound quality resting on the setting made by the sound quality setting means 14. The sound quality setting in a silent state is set by the sound quality setting means 14 through a process of partially changing the sound quality setting set in a sounding state just before it is judged by the sounding state/silent state judging means 12 that the sound signals are in a silent state.
