Abstract:
To provide: a spark plug for an internal combustion engine which can reliably seal a core part in a ground electrode; and a manufacturing method of the spark plug.SOLUTION: A spark plug 1 for an internal combustion engine has a housing 2, an insulator 3, a center electrode 4, and a ground electrode 5. The ground electrode 5 has an outer layer part 51 and a core part 52. The core part 52 has thermal conductivity higher than that of the outer layer part 51. The ground electrode 5 has an exposure end surface 531 where the core part 52 is partially exposed from the outer layer part 51. The housing 2 has a covering-and-fixing part 6 which covers and fixes a fixed end part 53 from at least three directions. The covering-and-fixing part 6 has a facing contact surface 641, a first sandwiching surface 611, and a second sandwiching surface 631. The exposure end surface 531 faces the facing contact surface 641 and makes contact therewith. The first sandwiching surface 611 and the second sandwiching surface 631 sandwich the fixed end part 53. The fixed end part 53 is bonded to at least one of the first sandwiching surface 611, the second sandwiching surface 631, and the facing contact surface 641.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
