PURPOSE: To enable execution of vertical conveyance without generating heat, to improve transfer performance, and to reduce the size of device, by a method wherein, in a spiral conveying device for beans and the like, a spiral vane forms a spiral brush vane.

CONSTITUTION: A number of brushes 10, 10,..., formed by a resilient needleform material, e.g. synthetic resin, a metal, a natural material, extended radially toward the inner wall of a conveyance cylinder 1 and having proper hardness, are filled spirally in succession at a proper pitch in the periphery of a rotary shaft 8 throughout the whole length of a conveyance cylinder 1 to form a spiral brush vane 11. In this constitution, with the vane 11 rotated, the brush 10 is bent in a reverse direction to a rotation direction owing to contact of it with the conveyance cylinder 1, an article (a) to be conveyed is moved to a position behind the pitch, and movement toward a position before the pitch is blocked. This constitution enables execution of conveyance in a vertical direction with high performance without creating a thermal action.
