Abstract:

To provide a sprocket holding element having light weight while holding its function.

The sprocket holding element 100 for a bicycle rear wheel comprises (a) a cylindrical main body 101 receiving a plurality of sprockets on the outside; and (b) a plurality of ribs 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 existing on an outer surface of the cylindrical main body 101, and extending substantially in an axial direction between a first end portion 102 of the cylindrical main body 101 receiving large-diameter sprockets and a second end portion 103 of the cylindrical main body 101 receiving small-diameter sprockets. In order to reduce the weight of the sprocket holding element 100, at lease one rib 1, 2, 3 is provided with a part 21, 22, 23 having reduced cross-sectional area in regard to a cross-sectional area of the rib 1, 2, 3, at the first or second end portions 102, 103 of the cylindrical main body 101.
