PURPOSE: To obtain the title composition containing a specific pyridine based compound as a stainproof component, capable of providing stainproof properties and slime resistance for a long period and being excellent in prevention of sticking of a harmful aquatic living organism to marine structure and aquatic structure.
CONSTITUTION: The aimed composition containing a pyridine based compound [e.g. 2,3-dibromo-N-(6-chloro-3-pyridinyl)succinic imide] expressed by formula I (Hal is halogen; X and Y are H or halogen) as a stainproof component. Furthermore, the compound expressed by formula I can be produced by reacting a compound expressed by formula II with a compound expressed by formula III in a solvent at 0-100°C for 0.1-10hr to give a compound expressed by formula IV and then reacting the resultant compound expressed by formula IV with a compound expressed by formula V in a solvent at 50-200°C for 1-10hr.
