PURPOSE: To embody the complete automatization by detecting a direction of steel, turn-positioning a repair device matched with the direction of a steel plate, avoiding a shear back part, and freely changing a repair direction, in a steel plate flaw repair device relating to the thick steel plate.
CONSTITUTION: Detectors 17a, 17b are provided to detect an end face of a steel plate 32 and its tilt. Based on this detected tilt of the steel plate 32, a motor 23 is driven to turn a grinding frame unit 14 and arbitrarily positioning a grinding direction. Traversing motors 24a, 24b are connected to pinion gears 25a, 25b meshed with rack gears 26a, 26b fixedly provided in a running common frame unit 27. Traversing wheels 28 are movably arranged on traversing rails 29, and the steel plate 32 is moved in a width direction by driving motors 24a, 24b.
