To provide a steering device for a vehicle in which the strength of a key lock hole is increased even when a light alloy steering column is adopted to reduce the weight for improving the operability during tilt and telescopic adjustment.
A steering column 12 is formed by die-casting using an aluminum alloy. Rectangular thin-wall parts 26 are formed on the outer periphery of the steering column in positions circumferentially apart from the key lock hole 22 in the column shaft P1 direction, and stress concentration bearing parts 27 are formed between the adjacent thin-wall parts 26. The stress concentration bearing part 27 circumferentially extends, in a band shape and with its thickness greater than that of the thin-wall part 26, from near the four corners 22a-22d of the key lock hole 22.
