To provide the coating of a metallic stent prosthesis having a lattice structure with intervals, and a method.
The coating has a comparatively thin layer and the layer is comprised of a biologically stable elastomeric material. The elastomeric material has the prescribed quantity of a dispersed biologically active substance such as heparin particularly and has a non-thrombotic surface. In one embodiment of practice, a region comprised of a highly electronegative type is disposed on the surface by covering with fluoro-silicone. Thereby, the control of the elusion, particularly the initial discharge speed and the non-thrombotic nature is supported. An outer layer which is non-thrombotic because of heparin such as the one which has the covalent bonding with polyethylene glycol is presented.
