PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the damage in a construction car in the case the car clashes against an obstacle even though a step for passengers getting on and off is provided to project from the body side of a hydraulic shovel.

CONSTITUTION: A passenger step 3 is pivoted on the outside surface of a traveling frame 1a of a lower traveling body 1 of a hydraulic shovel through brackets 4 and 5 and, at the same time, a stopper bracket 8 holding the passenger step 3 of a storage attitude is provided. Both front and rear sides 3a of the passenger step are formed in the shape of a tapered inclination surface.
