To provide a sterilizing method of animal feed domestic as an effective infection preventing method in a manufacturing process of the animal feed domestic considered as the main infection route of food poisoning germs by sterilizing the powdered or pellet formula feed for domestic animal by irradiating the feed with an electron beam.
The feed well mixed by a mixer is supplied into a hopper of a temporary reservoir (silo) through a conveying passage 16, and loaded on a truck called a bulk carrier to be transferred. An electron beam irradiation window 20 is mounted toward a conveyor surface on the way of the conveying passage 16 for conveying the formula feed from the mixer to the silo, and the electron beam accelerated by an electron beam accelerator 23 is applied toward the conveyor surface from the electron beam irradiation window 20. The electron beam accelerator of, for example, an acceleration voltage of 10 MeV, and an output of 200 kW is used, and the powdered or pellet formula feed loaded on the conveyor of a width of 1-2 m is moved under the electron beam irradiation window 20 at a speed of 10-100 m/min.
