Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform logical grouping of an array storage device by updating the logical identifiers of the storage devices which construct a logical volume in the case that an event occurs to affect the corresponding relation with the logical volume for every storage devices constructing the logical volume.
SOLUTION: A logical volume 40 is assigned to plural storage devices 24a to 24j, the correct ones among these devices 24a to 24j are found in the logical volume 40 and also it's decided whether these found devices are correctly arrayed or not. At the same time, the logical identifiers are updated by the devices 24a to 24j against the specific logical volume 40. That is, it's decided whether the power supply of an array control module 18 is turned on or not. Based on the occurrence of this event, anyone of the respective devices 24a to 24j is checked to be removed or disused. Then, the logical identifiers are updated by the correct storage devices.
