Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a coated hard drawn copper twisted wire which is lowered the repulsion stress and the tensile residual stress and is improved in the stress corrosion cracking resisting property, by passing the hard drawn copper twisted wire through a straightening roll before subjecting the wire to insulation coating.

CONSTITUTION: This twisted wire is manufactured by using a hard drawn copper wire as the strand and by twisting several strands. This twisted wire is passed through straightening equipment of 4W15 stages, and the repulsion stress and the tensile residual stress maintained by the twisted wire are lowered to zero level or the compressive stress. Then, the surface of the twisted wire is subjected to the prescribed insulation coating. In this way, the possibility of occurrence of the stress corrosion cracking is eliminated, and the inherent large tensile strength of the hard drawn twisted wire is effectively utilized. Thus the coated hard drawn copper twisted wire excellent in the mechanical strength and high in the reliability suitable for aerial wiring etc. is obtained.
